What is Cryotherapy?

Cryotherapy, the therapeutic use of cold to control inflammation and edema, decrease pain, reduce spasticity, and facilitate movement. Cryotherapy in physiotherapy is one of the most effective methods for supporting sports recovery and rehabilitation.

Why Cryotherapy?

Cryotherapy is a great option when rapid recovery is required between exercise sessions with evidence suggesting that cryotherapy increases strength gains following resistance training. The ability to apply ultra-cold temperatures (ranging from -140 to 167°C / -220 to -269°F) to the surface of the skin in the treatment area for short periods of time (approximately 2-3 minutes) through cryotherapy machine. This has proven to be more effective than the traditional ice-pack, and now physiotherapy treatments can be more extensive and practitioners can offer additional support for the patients.
